As a catalyst for innovation, BioscienceLA seeks to enable diversity, amplify science, and accelerate collaboration.
The BioFutures Program is a competitive program to connect students from historically under-represented backgrounds with subsidized internships and career development programming, designed to increase opportunities for students and companies year-round.
Interns gain further insight into the LA life science ecosystem:
a paid internship at an LA life sciences company (including biotech, medtech, and digital health companies and both technical and non-technical roles), subsidized by BioscienceLA
Mentorship opportunities with individuals from organizations like BCLA and Women in Bio
Networking events held both virtually and in-person at BioscienceLA’s Collaboration Hub in Culver City with ecosystem leaders and program alumni
an alumni program to stay involved and connected to the ecosystem and each other
Since launching in 2021:
100+ internships funded by BioscienceLA (thanks to LA County Second District)
8 full-time job offers to students at the end of their internship
300+ students in the database actively seeking internships
150+ companies looking/hosting interns
