UCLA Alum, Former Los Angeles EIR Tanya Petrossian Featured by NIH Director for Endometriosis Start-Up

Double Bruin Tanya Petrossian (UCLA BS Biochemistry, PhD Biochemistry & Molecular Biology) was recently featured in the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Director’s Corner, by NICHD Director Diana W. Bianchi, MD.

The article, “Endometriosis Research to Develop Non-Invasive Treatment and Diagnosis,” highlights Dr. Petrossian’s personal story, which informed her research and led to to launch LA-based EndoCyclic Therapeutics, which is developing the first non-hormonal therapeutic for endometriosis. “The key to Dr. Petrossian’s research is preserving the body’s estrogen, which is helpful to maintain fertility, brain function, and bone strength. Her lab is exploring a different pathway to eliminate existing endometrial lesions and prevent the growth of endometrial cells before they start.”

Having worked across the country and around the world, with organizations like Affymetrix, Allergan, Ayasdi, and GenePeeks, Dr. Petrossian has a passion for the life sciences ecosystem in Los Angeles. In 2017, she was named by Mayor Eric Garcetti as one of the City of Los Angeles’ Entrepreneurs in Residence. At the time, Dr. Petrossian said, “The City of Los Angeles has all of the building blocks necessary to continue to grow a successful biotechnology ecosystem. I am thrilled to be working with Mayor Garcetti to help grow a rich biotech and pharmaceutical sector in L.A.”
